Detoxification: A word heavily abused in innumerable catch-cries for weight loss diets and liver flushes. Perhaps the word conjures up images of quick-fix diets that rely on extended fasts on honey and hot water. Maybe you’ve tried a multi-day water and bentonite clay cleanse, used herbal laxatives, supplements or premium-priced powders. Perhaps you’ve simply done a juice fast or three.
Detoxification is an important regulatory process, and our bodies carry out detoxification on a cellular, organ, and system level all day long. However due to the increasing levels of stress we experience in our lives, the environmental toxins we are exposed to, and the increasingly processed modern diets we eat, our natural detoxification processes can be overwhelmed by the burden of waste created by living in an acidic inner terrain.
